Updates from the Abode

My copy-cat monogrammed shower curtain is back from The Little Monogram shop.  I chose the color as honeysuckle which is in the orange family and I love it. 

I think I need to iron it though...

Anyway, I also mentioned my plan to pull a "Martha" and cover one of my grandmother's antique wooden tables with a mirror.  I wanted to help protect it and also have it look more updated and bright. 

Here was the table before.  It is a beautiful piece but has taken a beating with all the wear and tear as our living room side table. 

And here it is updated with the mirror.  I really like how it looks. 

Did I mention I scored my lamp (there's a matching one on the other table in the living room) for $2?  I gave it a spray of high gloss black paint and it immediately joined the present which was a step up from the green and gold 1960's vibe they previously had going on.

The other thing I like about the mirror besides the look and feel and the reflective, bright quality is that it ties in nicely with several mirrored picture frames I have on the other side of the room.  Putting those mirrored frames on top of the mirrored table would be too much but they compliment each other on opposite sides of the room.

The new coffee table is here and I've finally put it together (with minimal help from the hubs I might add).  I am happy!  It is so much smaller than the old 1990-esque chunk of wood I had before:

I'm also pleased about my $5 purchase of the old Pepsi crate.  I like the bright color it adds to the room.  Not to mention, essential storage since I'm down a drawer on the new table. 

Husband gave me the red tulips for Valentine's Day. 

A few weeks ago when I blogged about the new coffee table from Overstock, my friend Meghann who recently moved to Colorado also agreed and bought one for herself - it is a little different on the bottom but the same style.  Check out how great hers looks in her new pad:

Overstock Coffee Table and then some.

We have a coffee table that I've had since college.  It is solid wood, huge and has great storage.  But it looks very 90's-esque and takes up a huge amount of space in our tiny living room.  My husband tasked me to find a new coffee table.  YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME TWICE!!

I was browsing on Overstock and found this coffee table:

It is smaller than our current coffee table and I like the weathered look.  It is around $200 bucks with only $3 shipping (LOVE Overstock).  Assembly required.  Hubby likes the look of it and is happy with the price but is worried about the quality of the piece...he doesn't want it to be cheapy.  Does anyone have any experience with ordering furniture from Overstock?  I tried to do a Google search for the same table to see if we were getting a good deal or to try to figure out who originally manufactured or sold the table but haven't been able to find anything. 

I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered from Overstock to date.  That said, the largest things I've ordered have been rugs.  No experience with furniture.  Anyway, if anyone has thoughts, I'd be all ears!

Mirror, Mirror on the...Table

The master bedroom isn't the smallest room in our tiny rental house but when you toss in a king size bed (which only very nearly made it up the stairs when we moved in), it doesn't leave much room for the bedside tables. I adore the two I got from the Design House in Lucketts (if you haven't been, you need to get there asap).

I'm interested in getting some similar tables - possibly as side tables in the living room to flank my new couch. I'm not sure what is better about these dainty, little tables - how pretty they are or how affordable they are. Here are a few I am considering:

This one from Wisteria is very similar to the ones I got (a little pricier than my bargain from Lucketts but still a good deal).
The next two also double as trays - handy for serving drinks, appetizers, or (yeah, right) breakfast in bed. This one is from Horchow.

This one is from the Mermaid Hut:

This "Through the Looking Glass Table" from Wisteria (don't you love the name?) is oh so budget friendly (only $79 bucks!). I've been eyeing it for a while and it might just have to be mine.
