All about Thibaut

Thibaut fabrics and wallpapers.  Not only are these fabrics and wallpapers awesome but I absolutely LOVE it when a comnpany shows actual pictures of how their products are utilized in actual spaces (or showrooms for all I care).  I've been into wallpaper lately.  Some of these rooms are a little too much for me but I think I could stomach at least a bathroom or a dining room in wallpaper one day when I'm not in a rental.  What do you think?

I like the print but not the wallpaper and the chairs together.  I've seen this look executed really well (like at the restaurant in the the hotel we got married in, Jackson 20) but this is way too frou frou and over the top for me.  One or the other but not both, please.

Yogurt and Ginger Slowcooker Curried Chicken

The March issue of Real Simple had a ton of slow cooker meals.  Yay!  I love my crockpot.  And I love coming home in the evening after work to an already finished dinner even more.  So, I thought I'd give this one a go...and because I can never follow a recipe exactly, I'll give you my version of what I did.  If you want their version, get it here.

Yogurt and Ginger Slowcooker Curried Chicken
2 pounds breast tenderloins
1 elephant clove of garlic (about 4 regular cloves), chopped
6 tablespoons curry powder (we like the flavor of red curry best)
4 tablespoons cumin
1 white onion, chopped
1 cup plain, non-fat Greek yogurt
1 cup cream or half and half
dash of hot sauce
4 tablespoons grated fresh ginger (don't slice your finger like I did...)
1 small can of tomato paste
1 cup of water
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste

Combine spices, tomato paste and water into the crock pot and whisk to combine.  Do not add the yogurt, chicken or cream yet.

Layer the chicken over the mixture and season generously with salt and pepper.  Cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 8. 

Before you are ready to serve, add the yogurt and the cream.  Cook rice to package directions.  Serve over rice.

Makes great leftovers although there was very little left because my husband loved it so much!

coffee table

The new coffee table is here and I've finally put it together (with minimal help from the hubs I might add).  I am happy!  It is so much smaller than the old 1990-esque chunk of wood I had before:

I'm also pleased about my $5 purchase of the old Pepsi crate.  I like the bright color it adds to the room.  Not to mention, essential storage since I'm down a drawer on the new table. 

Husband gave me the red tulips for Valentine's Day. 

A few weeks ago when I blogged about the new coffee table from Overstock, my friend Meghann who recently moved to Colorado also agreed and bought one for herself - it is a little different on the bottom but the same style.  Check out how great hers looks in her new pad:

"O" my goodness - look what I found!

I was searching on Overstock for new bedding to go with my inspiration rooms I showed you yesterday.  Haven't found the perfect bedding but I did find this:

Are you feeling it?  So the price isn't bad at all - $234, I think.  But I'm going to have to save up for a little bit (let's hope it doesn't sell out!).  The pup went to the vet two days in a row (mostly routine - vaccines and teeth cleaning and a chest xray) but that totaled a horrifying $800.  I nearly choked.  Good thing he's worth it.

Bright and Bold

Back in the land of the living.  A little break from work and a good trip to see my grandmother and I'm back in bizness.  I've missed my little blog! 

A few months ago I was going on about wanting a neutral bedroom.  But then my design schizophrenia kicked in after coming across these images.  I think this is the route I want to go down...

I recognize this last image isn't one of a bedroom but you get the general look I'm after.  Ecclectic, lived-in, comfortable with bright pops of color. 

Another thing - remember I was obsessed with Jamie's shower curtain?

I bought the shower curtain. 

And I think I want to get it monogrammed but I'm not sure about the red.  I hate our green tile in our rental house but ignoring that, I've kind of got a light blue and brown theme going on which I like.  Do you think a light blue (ahem, Carolina!) color would stand out enough on the shower curtain or am I better off leaving it monogram free?
