Wishing for Wallpaper

I am ITCHING to wallpaper something.  Ever since we bought our first house in Virginia, I have been wanting to do something permanent like wallpaper but never did because I knew we wouldn't be there very long and I couldn't justify the cost.  Plus, we were always thinking resale, resale, resale and had to have something so neutral so it would appeal to a wide variety of buyers and so it defeated the purpose of me wanting to do something awesome design-wise with the space.  We are in our house in North Carolina now and I still think about which space I want to wallpaper all the time.  We have some great built-ins in our living room that I think would really pop with some paper behind them.  We also have a small breakfast nook (formerly our playroom) that could use some oomph.  And of course, the most exciting space to think about wallpaper?  A kids room!!

And so, on this cold, gross, winter day, I've collected some of my most favorite kid wallpapers to brighten your day!  How adorable are these?!

Some modern arrows paired with a vintage print.  Right up my alley!

Love the large scale for a little person in this next one.

I love how this next one carried the paper right onto the ceiling!  It makes such a bold statement.

Perfectly pink bunnies for a nursery - I love that they aren't too babyish or too pink so could totally grow with a little girl!

Super hip cacti!  Love that really unique shade or green mixed with the bronzey gold.

I've saved my two most favorite for last.  This first one, I have been dying over for sometime and definitely have it saved as major inspiration for whenever I can redo a kids room.  I love, love, love the paper with its historical and European vibe and I love the modern bright upholstered headboard with the modern monogram pillow up against it.

And how truly sweet is this musical paper?  I think I'd like the bedding to have a little more color and spunk for my taste but I cannot get over this Minuet in G Major.

OKL Today!

I'll admit it...as much as I love email sales, I sometimes run out of time to get through all of the emails.  Or, things start to look the same.  Or, I am trying not to spend money.

But today I took a look at OKL and found some awesome pieces at great prices.  I don't have one more inch of space in my tiny house but if you do, you should definitely checkout this sale asap!  Not a OKL member?  Sign up here for their daily email sales.

New Knobs for the Living Room

One of the best purchases I've ever made from Ikea is the bookshelf and hutch in our living room.  It surprises people all the time that we got it from Ikea.  It is substantial enough to take up one whole wall in our living room, has enough room to fit my husband's gigantic tv and it offers me lots of shelves for books and accessories that I have fun styling and changing up frequently.

After purchasing the dresser for the nursery from Ikea and changing out the knobs, I thought, why I have never changed the knobs on the Ikea piece in the living room?  So I marched myself right on over to Anthropologie (as you do when you want cool looking knobs!) and found three gold ones that complimented other accents in our living room.  And who was the bargain buster that got them on sale for under $3 each (normally they are at least $12 each)?  This girl.

Now I feel like it looks even less like Ikea!  And a new rug doesn't hurt either - the space feels a lot brighter!

Can't Stop Looking At...

this space from BHG.

This is what I want my home to feel like - cozy, comfortable, useful, colorful with a neutral base, eclectic and livable.  I love everything about this room in Kate Jackson's home.

Nursery Inspiration

I know, I know.  I've been totally slacking on the blog front lately!  I'm working on getting my creative juices flowing so I can start working on the nursery.  This weekend we moved everything out of the guest room and into the basement to make room for baby.  I've pretty much settled on Arrowhead Lake from Behr for the color of the walls (with white trim).

I sampled it this weekend and both my husband and I really like it in there.  I like that it doesn't scream baby and could easily be sophisticated for a grown up bedroom.  I actually got the inspiration from the latest Wisteria catalog that I got (by the way, if you haven't looked at it closely, you need to because I want everything in there!).

That's about as far as I've gotten - a paint color and a cleared out room.  Next step is getting my husband to paint...

I have been looking at lots of ideas on Pinterest, of course.  It's overwhelming now that it is actually my turn to do this to try to pick everything and make a decision on what direction I'm going to go in with the room.

Here are some of my inspiration pics:

Loving Layers

I adore the look of layered rugs. I think it adds not only visual interest but great textural interest too.

I also love that the look can work well in a ton of different decorating styles from modern to traditional to bohemian to super chic.

It is also one of those decor tactics that is fairly hard to screw up.  You can easily pair a more graphic print with a neutral that has lots of texture and achieve the look without worrying that you'll mess it up.  Here are some rugs from a recent OKL sale that would layer perfectly.
