Day Trip to Soloman's Island

I wanted to get out of dodge this weekend for a few hours so we decided to take a road trip over to Maryland's Western Shore.  I've long been a fan of the Eastern Shore so I was excited.  Soloman's Island didn't disappoint.  If you are anywhere in the DC area, I highly recommend a day trip at the very least to this beautiful spot.

On the way there we stopped off at Sotterly Plantation.  It wasn't open but we looked around the grounds and it was really beautiful.

We arrived there around lunchtime and had incredible crabcakes from Stoney's Seafood House on the Pier.  They were rated Washingtonian Post's Top Crabcake.  No filler.  Amazing.

We wandered around the town and hit a few shops (lots was closed for the off-season) to work off our lunch.

About half an hour away from Solomans on the way home we stopped off at Calvert Cliff's National Park to stretch our legs.  The walk was about 2 miles to the beach and two miles back so we weren't prepared to wander that far but we definitely need to go back with the pup in tow.

And last but not least, just outside of of DC, we stopped off at Friday's Creek Winery for a little tasting.

All in all a quick, easy trip that I really recommend!
